Hatha Yoga

Hatha Yoga traces its origins especially to Gorakhnath, the legendary 11th-century founder of the Kanphata Yogis, but it grew out of yogic traditions dating back at least as far as Patanjali (2nd century bce or 5th century ce), author of the Hindu classics the Yoga-sutras and the Mahabhasya (“Great Commentary”) Hatha yoga is a branch of yoga that uses physical techniques to try to preserve and channel vital force or energy with in our body. The Sanskrit word हठ , which literally means "force", alludes to a system of physical techniques. Hatha Yoga attains the union of mind-body-spirit through a practice of asanas, pranayama, mudra, bandha and shatkarma. These body-centered practices are used to strengthen and purify the physical body, and cultivate prana (life-force energy) and activate kundalini (dormant spiritual energy). Hatha yoga, originated from a Sanskrit word 'Hath' which means being forceful. While practicing the technique practitioners must get slowly and deliberately into specific asanas, poses that challenge their strength and flexibility, while focusing on the breath and staying mindful. Hatha yoga doesn't necessarily mean applying extra force beyond your comfort level. Following this traditional old Yoga Practice, you learn to challenge your body, channelize the energy, and focus on breathing. Hatha Yoga Practice involves bending, squeezing, twisting, and balancing one's body, while laying significant emphasis on breathwork. This Yoga Practice is known to calm the mind, body, and spirit, and prepare the practitioners for meditation.
