Mantra meditation practice revolves around a word or a phrase that is repeated while meditating. These mantras can be spoken out, chanted repeatedly, be whispered, or simply chanted in the mind. A majority of mantra meditation techniques are designed around mindfulness, and reputation of chants, or mantras. This practice can be traced back to early Buddhism and Hinduism. The idea of recitation of mantras or chants is also prevalent in Judeo Christian and Shamanic traditions. The modern practice of mantra meditation is gaining popularity in the sphere of meditation as a practice of mindfulness. Mantra meditation can be practiced for a wide variety of outcomes - for mental health and wellbeing, keeping focus, avoiding mental distractions, aiding sleeplessness, or even overcoming our fears and phobias In Hindu tradition, mantra meditation serves a much deeper spiritual purpose because it allows the brain and heart to connect and build a deeper relationship with the divine. In the Buddhist tradition, the technique is used as a way to remain mindful of the present situation.
