Rinzai or Zazen Meditation is an ancient meditation technique, that originated from the teachings of the great Buddha. The practice started in the 7th century in Chinese Buddhism. The technique quickly spread across Japan, Korea, and other neighboring countries. Also known as Zazen, it is one of the most popular meditative techniques in Japan and around the world today. "Zen" means concentration or meditation, and the zazen practice offers insights into how the human mind functions. Zazen is considered the heart of Japanese Soto Zen practice. Zazen is a seated meditation form, which includes, suspending all judgmental thinking and letting words, ideas, images, and thoughts pass by without getting engrossed in them. Today, Zazen is a great tool to cope with modern-day anxieties and problems. The technique helps the practitioner develop an awareness of the interconnectedness of humans to live a more meaningful life.
